10 things we love about hospitality
T oday (Friday 30th September) is National Hospitality Day – a nationwide celebration of Britain’s brilliant and resilient restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars, and the suppliers that support them.
National Hospitality Day is a chance to raise a glass to our favourite establishments and support them during these challenging times for the industry. With that in mind, here are 10 reasons why hospitality is amazing.
1. Supporting the community
Pubs bring people together and often serve as a hub for hosting charity fundraising events that give back to the community. For every pint of our own-brand beer sold on the day, we’ll be donating £1 to the following charities: the Drinks Trust, Hospitality Action, Only a Pavement Away, Springboard, and the Licensed Trade Charity. Each is working hard to help business owners and team members, who need it most.
2. Brilliant beer
Nothing beats a pub-fresh pint of cask beer. It’s unprocessed and the result of raw, quality ingredients. Cask beer is naturally conditioned and undergoes a secondary stage of fermentation inside the barrel, allowing the character and flavour of the brew to continue to develop as it ages. You can only truly experience this at a pub, and it’s been brewed this way for centuries.
3. Making memories
We love to play a part in special holidays and occasions, helping to create memories that last a lifetime. Pubs, inns, and hotels are places where families and friends get together, and they’re also catalysts for meeting new people – be it a first date or the forging of new friendships. Many of our pubs form part of the fabric of local communities across the West Country.

We’d be nothing without the hard work and talent of our brilliant team members. Whether working in a spectacular coastal pub or brewing award-winning beer in one of our Production teams, our passionate people each play an important role in creating amazing products and experiences at our pubs, inns, and hotels.
5. Amazing walks
We’re never far from a trail, be it beside the sea or among swathes of rolling countryside. In the summer, you can hike sunny coastal paths and stumble upon secluded sandy beaches adorned with turquoise waters and an abundance of wildlife. When there’s a chill in the air, a walk beside the ocean will treat you to invigorating sea breezes and dramatic wave displays.
6. Cosy corners
As the nights draw in, there’s no better feeling than heading to the warmth of your nearest pub and sinking into a cosy nook or window seat. Indulge in a hearty meal and treat yourself to a pint of something special - this time of year sees many of our most anticipated seasonal brews arrive at the bar. Better still, relax beside the crackle of a log fire… pure bliss.
7. Breath-taking live sport
If you can’t be at the game, there’s surely no better alternative than watching the action live at a pub. The atmosphere will have your hairs standing on end and, crucially, you’re conveniently never far away from being able to refill your glass and order some tasty food – perhaps it’s better than being at the match after all!

Not only are the locations of our pubs outstanding, but they’re home to equally impressive suppliers. Our chefs cook with fresh, locally sourced ingredients of the highest quality, so you can experience an authentic taste of the West Country. We’re committed to sourcing as much sustainable local produce as we can and have a trusted network of local suppliers, the majority of which are family-owned businesses in Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset.
9. Live music
Pubs and bars form the bedrock of live music, showcasing talent from near and far throughout the year. You’re sure to experience a cracking atmosphere at an intimate pub gig, with singalongs and plenty of beers flowing.
